This is so tricky. Firstly, don’t try to make friends as often ‘the newby’ may be seen as a suck up. Be yourself, let the real you shine through. Do your job competently and to the best of your ability. If it is in your nature to be helpful, keep being this way and your colleagues will notice that it is no put on. Remember, first this is your job not your life or who you are.
As for swearing, abuse legal guys - well I think they have special modules in lawyering. I’ve hardly met one that didn’t get a bit carried away at the mouth!! Don’t take that personally. About the shirt incident, it appears as if your timing was off. Bagging the boss in one breath and trying to compliment another in the next - ouch! Nothing but experience of the personalities can help here. Try learning about body language. This may help you to second guess a little!

It’s not that they don’t like you, it’s because they can’t be you. They are jealous of you. So you have to be better then they, don’t lower yourself to their standards.

I have problems at work with my supervisor, she is jealous of me, i’m in a fantastic relationship and i basically have everything i want.

You could even ring your old employer and ask if he/she has any positions coming up.

All i can is that I recently just walked out on my job. I was paid very well and had a very good salary but a new boss came in and she was an ADHD Manic She Devil…truly a monster. I couldnt work under the stress and I tried. I made the decision to leave knowing finding another job in that field with same position would be difficult but…I got my life back. No more long hrs, stress, eglecting my son, taking care of me..now i have time to live and altho its a bit hard i am happy. I believe I made the right decision and found a job much different in pay and position! I no longer have to get up and hate my job or neglect my son and home. DO WHATS BEST FOR YOU, REMEMBER YOU DON’t take a job to meet friend or go to lunch with ur co-workers and u didnt get hired for that reason either. If u r good at ur job, be an outkast but as long as u do greeat at ur job ur boss will appreciate u..f.u(k ur co-workers, hell F ur boss too! he don’t have to like u, just as long as he likes the work u do

The yelling amd screaming you describe is actaully illegal - it is called “workplace Bullying”and is totally against the law and punishable under the Federal Industrial Relations Act. Suprising that your colleagues are unaware that thier behaviour is illegal seeing as you work in a law firm.

Google search “workplace Law”and also see if there is a union associated with law firms and associated workplaces that you can join, document everything that occurs including date, time, who said it, who was present and never ever go into a one on one meeting about your performance as this can be used against you in another illegal workplace bullying strategy called “constructive Dissmissal”

Get your union rep to advise you and even schedule a mediation meeting with you, your employer and them on your behalf to resolve the issue.
